Here’s what Trump just posted about me on Truth Social:

Setting aside the fact that this post doesn’t actually make any sense — Donald, let’s talk about tariffs. We can start by calling them what they are: tax hikes.
Trump’s tariffs on Canadian imports are actually taxes on consumer goods — not “tariffs on deadly Fentanyl.” Groceries and food products. Building supplies. Fertilizers for our farmers. Goods critical to our national security industry like aluminum and steel.
Americans want prices to go down, not up! But these new taxes on imports could cost Virginians an extra $2 billion a year — that’s billion with a B.
That’s ridiculous, so I’m forcing a vote in the Senate to challenge Trump.
The fact of the matter is, slapping taxes on goods imported from Canada — one of our closest allies and biggest trading partners — isn’t going to accomplish anything other than squeezing Americans’ wallets even tighter.
If you agree that we’ve got to end this sham emergency and un-do Trump’s tax hikes, please add your name to my public petition today. [[link removed]]

Before I sign off, let’s get one more thing straight: Trump’s ill-advised and unpopular taxes have nothing to do with the fentanyl crisis.
Fentanyl is a real emergency in this country, and one we’ve got to take seriously. (For example, it would have been helpful if Trump hadn’t torpedoed our bipartisan border deal that had funds in it to stem the flow of fentanyl.) But saying there’s an emergency at the Canadian border is just wrong — as Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, testified just last week, the fentanyl threat is coming from Mexico and China, not Canada .
So why invent this emergency? There’s one crystal clear reason: To get more revenue that will be used to give a tax cut to billionaires.
It’s not only that he’s hurting the economy — which would be bad enough — it’s that all of this is being done to fund tax breaks for billionaires off the backs of working Americans!
Join me in urging my Senate colleagues to reverse Trump’s ill-advised and wildly unpopular taxes on Canadian goods. [[link removed]]
Thanks for speaking out.
