OK, team -- the primary in Iowa is over, and the contests are set for the general election. Democrats from all over the state came out in record numbers, showing their discontent with the failed leadership of Kim Reynolds and Joni Ernst.

But the Washington Republican campaign machine is coming down hard on our state. Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and nearly 80 of their top surrogates have spent weeks in Iowa spreading their misleading claims and fact-free attacks.

Iowa could be the key to holding the House and retaking the Senate. We only need to flip five seats to wrest control of the upper chamber from Mitch McConnell and Joni Ernst. And Theresa Greenfield is ready to make the first dent in majority.

In the House, we’re defending three toss-up seats, and trying to flip one from red-to-blue. Winning here could ensure that the House remains in Democratic hands -- and in the hands of responsible leadership.

But if we’re going to win in November -- up and down the ballot -- we are going to need to work together. The Washington GOP has already spent 10 million on ads -- and plan on spending over 30 million more -- in Iowa alone.
