Our country is in mourning. The pain and grief are real. As peaceful protests take place across our country, we all see and hear the calls for change.

Hundreds of thousands of people are protesting systemic racism and the use of excessive force at the hands of the police. They’re using their collective power to march for justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the countless other Black Americans who have been murdered by those who swore to protect and defend them.

I stand with them.

The hard truth is liberty and justice for all is not a reality for everyone — especially when it comes to the Black community. We must work together, with urgency, to change that. Black lives depend on it.

We have so much work to do to heal the wounds of racism in our country, and we must do more than hoping and praying that this will get better. We must fight against the culture of racism and fix the systems that allow repeated patterns of violence and injustice toward Black Americans.

Today, I’d like to ask you to join me in supporting the work of three organizations fighting for racial justice and dedicated to making lasting change in our country.

If you’re able, I encourage you to split a contribution between Color of Change, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and Black Leaders Organizing for Communities. You can take an important step in supporting the fight for racial justice by donating right here:

The murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor were not isolated incidents. They were part of a much larger problem — a systemic problem.

Those responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law in order to serve justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and their loved ones. But we must also work toward justice for the entire community by taking meaningful action to dismantle systemic racism.

We cannot rest until there is true liberty and justice for ALL in America.
