Dear Ward 8 Residents,

Mayor Muriel Bowser took a bold approach by officially renaming the section of 16th Street, NW, in front of the White House, the “Black Lives Matter Plaza". This was a much-needed statement to those who wish to promote injustice across this country. I feel the anguish deep within my spirit for the fallen victims taken unjustly by police officers.

As a legislator in the District of Columbia, survivor of police brutality, a father to a son, and a mentor to black men, it is my duty to create laws that will protect people in our community and end police brutality and white supremacy. My team and I are working on legislation to do just that.

Our nation is facing challenging times, but we are in this together. Continue to be strong and stay safe.
Regards,

Trayon White, Sr.
Councilmember, Ward 8
