Team, today’s the last day of the fundraising quarter, which means you’re probably getting inundated with requests for donations.

But this is a different kind of email, because I’m not going to pretend we’re living in normal times.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are decimating Social Security, trampling the rule of law, and waging a trade war that is threatening the livelihoods of families and businesses across our nation. We need to fight back — and while donating to worthy campaigns is an important way of doing that, it’s not the only one.

So here is what I’m going to ask of you today, if you can:

1) Attend a town hall meeting. Show up and tell your representatives exactly what you expect from them — and if you have tough questions about their (our!) performance, then ask them.

2) Share your story. Tell the people in your community exactly how you and your family are impacted by Trump’s reckless actions. Whether it’s cuts to cancer research funding, a harder time accessing your Social Security benefits, rising costs from tariffs, or the threat of GOP cuts to Medicaid — your voice matters and it deserves to be heard.

3) Volunteer your time. There are mission-driven organizations across the country quietly winning tough battles to protect our health care system, reverse unjust firings of federal workers, connect women with reproductive health services, and support the LGBTQ+ community. Lending a hand to these organizations is a great way to directly help people who are under attack by the current administration.

4) Help me take the fight to these right-wing extremists. I am going to keep fighting every way I possibly can to protect our democracy, defend the rule of law, and fight ANY and ALL attempts by right-wing billionaires to steal from working families — whether it’s your health care, your Social Security, or funding for your kids’ public school.
