Hi John,
If you were wondering why it has been difficult to get good election law signed, despite all our best efforts, here's why. ([link removed])
We have passed a LOT of good election integrity bills the last 3 years, only to have Gov. Hobbs- an avowed "resist Trump" Democrat- veto them all.
Now, Dem Secretary of State Adrian Fontes- whose actions have been struck down by courts repeatedly, including very recently regarding his illegal instructions to county recorders- is at it again.
Get a load of this- and remember Arizona voted for Trump by 7 points in November!

In his remarks, posted to X, Fontes referred to a “rising tide of fascism sweeping this nation,” as his primary motivation for the decision. Fontes cited President Donald Trump’s Executive Order “Preserving And Protecting The Integrity Of American Elections,” and claimed that through this action the “president is laying the groundwork to cancel elections in 2026.”
Fontes gave no explanation or description of how requiring voter identification, preventing non-citizens from voting, cooperation between the state and federal governments to maintain voter roll integrity, requiring states only count ballots received on or by election day, and improving the security of voting systems could possibly accomplish this end.
Fontes wrote:
“I have considered the pros and cons of running for congress. It is clear to me that our party must fight harder and stand up to the rising tide of fascism sweeping this nation.
“With this week’s executive order from the Trump Administration, I firmly believe the president is laying the groundwork to cancel elections in 2026.
“After careful thought and reflection, I have decided that for family, for country, and for democracy, I will continue to defend America as Arizona’s secretary of state.”
As reported by KJZZ, Fontes claimed that the Executive Order, “is in my view an attempt to erode confidence so much that he [Trump] will be able to declare some kind of emergency or something and potentially just cancel the elections in 2026. I don’t think that is beyond what this administration is capable of.”
In a subsequent interview with Scripps, Fontes proceeded to double-down, telling Elizabeth Landers that were DOGE to come for any of Arizona’s voter rolls or information, as required under the Executive Order, he “would tell them to go to hell.”
He also announced that a formal campaign announceme
nt for Secretary of State will be forthcoming.
So, let's recap here.
1. Fontes is running for re-election, to oppose Trump HARDER.
2. Fontes is spouting Blue-anon conspiracy theories about Trump cancelling the 2026 elections (as if we would WANT him and Hobbs to continue their terms???)
3. Fontes is AGAIN disregarding the law to clean out the voter rolls (something the courts have ruled against him on multiple times)
4. Fontes thinks all Republicans are fascist
5. Fontes thinks (in a Trump +7 state) that his role is to resist Trump HARDER.
With this level of disconnect from reality, is it any wonder we are coming up on a roadblock for our election integrity legislation? This guy won't even follow the laws on the books!
Let me ask YOU: Do you want Trump to be resisted?
If not, I need your help now ([link removed]) . If you want election integrity in Arizona, help me so we are SO strong that not even the delusional Dems would stop it.
Fontes does not respect YOU, the citizens of Arizona. He certainly won't respect the AZ Legislature! ([link removed])
That means the only alternative we have is to pass better laws and sue Fontes to MAKE him abide by the law. YOU have been the biggest reason the AZ Leg has passed better laws this year. Help me so we can complete this election integrity push! ([link removed])
