Take action to stop voter suppression across the country, before the vote this week.
Dear John,
By now I’m sure you’ve heard of the “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility” (SAVE) Act: one of the most restrictive voter ID requirements we've ever seen. If the SAVE Act passes, someone you know could lose the right to vote. It would create unnecessary barriers to voting, by requiring voters to provide strict proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, to register or update their voter registration. This bill is based on unfounded claims of voter fraud. Will you stand up to voter suppression by telling Congress to vote NO on the SAVE Act?
We’ve seen Trump’s executive orders this week relating to proof of citizenship prior to voting, in an attempt to make voting more difficult. Stopping the SAVE Act presents us with the opportunity to defend and protect our democracy from these attacks of voter suppression.
Our local leaders are the ones in charge of elections, not the president. It is the states who run elections, and the SAVE Act, in addition to Trump’s executive orders, would attack the checks and balances that have secured our elections for generations and create a logistical nightmare for states.
