Two years ago, PA set the record with the most expensive judicial elections ever, and with control of the PA Supreme Court up for grabs, this year will be no different. These races will undoubtedly attract a mountain of dark money from funders like PA’s richest man, Jeffrey Yaas, who has already invested more than a MILLION dollars to influence this year’s election results, and outside billionaires like Elon Musk, who has been FLOODING Wisconsin with millions of dollars to try to buy that race.
We must take this threat seriously: Elon Musk has been trying to remove judges he views as “anti-Trump,” is actively donating to Congressional Republicans who support impeaching judges who work against the Trump agenda, and has been going as far as to pay voters to sign petitions stating that they oppose “activist judges.” After today, he will undoubtedly turn his attention to Pennsylvania.
With the Trump administration pushing an authoritarian agenda that threatens our democracy, our rights, and the well-being of millions here at home and around the planet, we are going to need all hands on deck to protect the independence of our state and federal courts.
