Friend,

On March 13, Breonna Taylor was murdered in her own home. Today, June 5, would have been her 27th birthday.

Today, we honor her memory. But we also demand justice.

Not one of the Louisville Metro Police officers who stormed into her house and fatally shot her has been charged.

It's simply unacceptable that months have gone by without action. Join us in demanding that the Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer fire the officers who murdered Breonna and the Department of Justice launch an immediate investigation into her death: [link removed]

Breonna was around the same age as many of us, with an entire life ahead of her. Like us, Breonna had hopes, dreams, fears, pet peeves, guilty pleasures, things that made her laugh. When the police callously took her life, they took all of those things, too.

Nothing will bring Breonna back. Her tragic and senseless death has forever scarred her family, friends, loved ones, and community. Despite that, her legacy lives on in the necessary and resilient uprisings taking place all across the country. Young people are speaking loud and clear: We will not be silent in the face of systemic police brutality against Black people.

To those of you fighting for justice and equality, we see you and we thank you.

In community and solidarity,

NextGen America
