Trump’s strategy since returning to office is clear: overwhelm us with his unconstitutional executive orders to advance his far-right agenda. But the hundreds of lawsuits challenging these orders have given the courts the chance to block or delay many of them from going into effect.
The devastation of these orders – mass deportations, huge federal layoffs and funding cuts, voting restrictions, and more – can be stopped if the courts do their jobs.
We must rely on our federal judges to make rulings on merit – not party allegiance. Unfortunately, Trump spent his whole first term nominating MAGA judges who are loyal to him and him alone, stacking the deck in his favor, and he’s about to appoint even more loyalist judges to lower courts.
Democrats in Congress must take a stand against Trump’s plan to corrupt the judiciary, and we have to hold them accountable when they don’t.
