The Department of Education is responsible for protecting the civil rights of students, supporting students from low-income backgrounds, and developing and preparing educators for the classroom. The department also collects and analyzes statistics on enrollment, staffing, and crime in schools, as well as manages the $1.6 trillion Federal Student Aid program.

Dismantling this department and diverting the federal funding used to support education to hand out tax breaks to billionaires will be detrimental to local communities and will likely bring disruptions that have parents concerned.
