Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
On Friday, I joined "Varney & Co." on
Fox Business to speak about the contrast in priorities we are
seeing in Washington. While some Democrats are resorting to
profanity-driven messaging in an out-of-touch attempt to connect with
the American people, Republicans are focused on real solutions.
That includes rolling back costly
Biden-era energy regulations that would have placed unnecessary
burdens on small businesses—with no meaningful return.
We also discussed President Donald J.
Trump’s call to improve public safety and the quality of life in
Washington—necessary steps toward making our nation’s capital a place
that truly reflects our great country. Click

This week, there has been a lot of talk
about Signal chat and a successful mission to make our nation safer. I
conducted an interview on CNN where I made one thing clear:
While the Biden administration consistently refused to take
accountability for its national security failures — from the
disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal to Secretary Austin disappearing for
days — NSA Waltz acknowledged his mistake, and steps are being taken
to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
But let’s not lose sight of the real
issue: The only reason a strike on the Houthis was necessary is that
Biden lifted their terror designation. His policy of appeasement
emboldened Iran and strengthened its proxies, leading to more than 170
Houthi attacks on U.S. warships and commercial vessels.
That era of weakness is over. Under
President Trump, accountability is back — and so is American strength.

President Trump and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon are
committed to returning control of education to the states—where it
belongs—and empowering parents, local leaders, and teachers.
But putting funding and decision-making back in the hands of states
is just one piece of the puzzle. If we genuinely want to improve
student outcomes, we must embrace school choice—something the
governor’s office still refuses to do in Pennsylvania.
At the federal level, I am pleased to support H.R. 833, the
Educational Choice for Children Act, which offers a federal tax credit
to encourage charitable donations toward scholarships that help
families cover K-12 expenses—tuition, books, supplies, and more. This
bill is expected to benefit two million students nationwide, opening
the door to better educational opportunities—whether in public,
private, religious, or homeschool settings. Click

In 1997, nearly 8,800 companies were publicly traded in the U.S.
Today, that number has dropped to fewer than 4,000. Meanwhile, the
cost of going public has increased to more than $12 million—shutting
out small businesses and everyday investors.
President Trump, the U.S. Department of the Treasury Secretary
Bessent, and incoming U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair
Paul Atkins are working to create more opportunities by making both
public and private markets work for the American people.
Watch below as I question witnesses at the House Financial Services
Committee hearing on how streamlining regulations, lowering costs, and
expanding access to capital can help small businesses, rural
communities, and retail investors thrive. Click

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is at the top of
the list needing reform. Its unchecked power, combined with arrogance,
dogmatic ideology, and narrowmindedness, poses a dangerous threat to
our government and, more importantly, consumers across the
country.
My testimony before the House Financial Services Committee
revealed how the CFPB has blatantly ignored the law, misused taxpayer
funds, and wasted $700 million—resources meant to protect consumers—while straying far from its original,
authorized mission.
The Trump Administration and incoming CFPB Director Jonathan
McKernan are committed to refocusing the bureau, providing regulatory
relief for financial institutions while maintaining consumer
protections and oversight of unfair practices. Click

President Trump’s new Tesla is parked
just outside the West Wing. Great to see this American-made car
prominently displayed near the entrance to the White House.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Earlier this week, members of the
Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team joined
Bret Baier on Special Report — a compelling segment on their efforts
to fulfill President Donald J. Trump’s mission of making government
work for the people again.
Here’s what you missed:
-
Tom
Krause on restoring fiscal responsibility:
“We’re changing the culture … There’s $500 billion of fraud
every year, there’s hundreds of billions of dollars of improper
payments, and we can’t pass an audit … If I was a public company CFO,
I would effectively be removed.”
-
Aram
Moghaddassi on improving Social Security
benefits: “The two improvements that
we’re trying to make to Social Security are helping people that
legitimately get benefits protect them from fraud that they experience
every day on a routine basis, and also make the experience better … At
Social Security, one of the first things we learned is that they get
phone calls every day of people trying to change direct deposit
information … We learned 40% of the phone calls that they get are from
fraudsters … Almost half.”
-
Elon
Musk on cracking down on fraudulent
payments: “There were over $300M of
Small Business Administration loans that have been given out to people
under the age of 11 … $300 million to over the age of 120 … The
youngest recipient of a Small Business Administration loan is a
nine-month-old.”
-
Brad
Smith on enhancing health care: “There’s
700 different IT systems today at NIH … They can’t speak to each
other. They have 27 different CIOs. And so when you think about making
great medical discoveries, you have to connect the data.”
-
Joe
Gebbia on making government retirement more
efficient: “The process takes many
months — and we’re going to make it just many days.”
-
Elon
Musk on waste, fraud, and abuse: “The
sheer amount of waste and fraud in the government, it is astonishing —
it’s mind blowing. We routinely encounter wastes of $1 billion or more
— casually.”
-
Elon
Musk on DOGE’s core mission: “At the end
of the day, America is going to be in much better shape. America will
be solvent. The critical programs that people depend upon will work
and it’s going to be a fantastic future.”
I would highly encourage you to watch
this interview with Elon and his DOGE team. Click

While the leftwing media demonizes the
DOGE team's efforts and radical activists burn Teslas, the reality is
they are effectively cutting waste, fraud, and abuse in our federal
government. They should be applauded. In Congress, I plan to do more
than cheer them on by actively assisting them whenever possible to
make our Federal government more efficient and effective for the
American people.
On Friday, our campaign held a successful
event at Mar-A-Lago. President Trump is Making America Great Again.
It’s time for us to have a leader who will Make Pennsylvania Great
Again.
Congressman Mast, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign
Relations, joined us and gave remarks reminding us all how personal
President Trump and us, take the plan to Make America Great
Again.
Jim Worthington hosted the event and offered some incredibly
generous and meaningful remarks as he introduced me at our event. Jim
is a great business person, community developer and leader.
Additionally, he is a political leader who supported President Trump‘s
election as much as anyone and then some. He served as the chairman of
Pennsylvania's convention delegation. He’s an amazing person, and I
just couldn’t thank him and his wife, Kim, for their friendship and
support.
Shelley and I are pictured with Congressman Brian Mast and Jim
Worthington.

The House GOP had the opportunity to meet with Ray Dalio, founder
of Bridgewater, to discuss the mounting national debt. The growing
national debt is perhaps the greatest single threat to the future of
our nation.

Great to meet with Nasdaq's Terry
Campbell and Kevin Kennedy of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange today.
The PHLX was founded in 1790 and is the first and oldest stock
exchange in the United States. Nasdaq PHLX is also a critical economic
driver for Philadelphia, supporting nearly 300 jobs and growing.
As Financial Services Committee
Republicans work to strengthen our capital markets, we must ensure
they remain accessible, efficient, and competitive—so they work for
retail investors and help maximize retirement savings for hardworking
Americans.

I sat down with Nicole Stallings
and John Myers from the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of
Pennsylvania. We had an insightful conversation on the role of
government payers within the healthcare system and the essential
services hospitals provide to residents across the Commonwealth. Thank
you for taking the time to visit my DC office. I enjoyed our
productive conversation.

Great to welcome Ally Bank, the
nation’s largest all-digital bank, to my Washington office today. We
had a productive discussion on the auto lending industry, ways to
streamline regulations to enhance competition and affordability in
banking, and how best to support President Trump’s
excellent financial services nominees.

On Tuesday, we celebrated National Medal
of Honor Day. We recognize those who have received our nation’s
highest military honor for their extraordinary acts of valor.
These heroes went above and beyond the
call of duty, often at great personal risk, to protect their fellow
servicemembers and defend our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and
devotion to our country inspire us all. We are forever grateful.

On Saturday, it was National Vietnam War
Veterans Day. As we mark the 50th anniversary of the war’s end, we
recognize the brave Americans who served and sacrificed in the fight
against communism.
Their courage and dedication to defending freedom will never be
forgotten. We remain grateful for their service.
May God continue to bless our nation. I
look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan
