My friend,

Chances are if you’re reading this email you’re pretty tuned in to the news. Just by opening this email you’re already part of a unique group. You care about what’s happening — and you’re interested in doing more to improve things.

That’s really good, but it can also be tough. You know what’s happening right now — the thousands of government workers Elon Musk has fired for no reason. The plans to fire thousands more. Attacks on services that millions depend on, like Social Security, Medicaid, the VA. Further attacks on people who just want to live their lives and exercise their civil rights.

And you probably know why they’re doing it. To pass through trillions in tax cuts for the richest people and most profitable companies in the country. To worsen public services so people don’t trust them anymore — so they can privatize everything and extract all the value they can out of our country and leave nothing for the rest of us.

I’m glad you’re involved. It’s important. But the issue right now is most people don’t know everything that’s happening. They’re waking up early to go to work all day, cooking dinner, helping with homework, and then trying to find a few minutes of peace before bed. That’s enough work on its own.

And the real thing is, we have to reach those people. We have to show them the serious impacts that are coming to our community so that we can all stand up together and hold Trump accountable.

That’s why I did town halls all over Arizona this month. I wanted to go to our communities and tell people directly what’s happening, and hear from them in return. It’s why I’m doing so many interviews on TV, online, for magazines and newspapers.

We have to make sure they hear us, and it’s a lot of work. Honestly, it’s not cheap. So, when I’m asking you for a donation, it’s going to my team and our operations so that we can do this important work.

I really, really appreciate every donation we get. I grew up poor, and I know how important every dollar is. But, to keep going, I have to ask from time to time. That’s how we fund all of this.

And with our first FEC deadline of the year approaching fast, this is one of those times when I have to ask.
