There is no question, these are very trying times for our country.  It is deeply disturbing to watch Black men and women have their lives callously taken from them time and time again. The disproportionate killing of unarmed people of color is unacceptable, and we must take action to prevent future occurrences.

I'm proud to cosponsor Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s resolution to condemn racial profiling and excessive use of force by police officers, and will keep working to find solutions to reform our criminal justice system and tackle the underlying inequalities in our society.

Simply put, we need to do better. Now is the time for a national conversation about racism, inequality and reform in policing. We must acknowledge the biases and discrimination Americans face simply because of the color of their skin, and together we must work to change our society.

I look forward to staying in touch and hearing from you on this and other important issues.  If you don’t already, please follow me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/CarbajalForCongress/ or Twitter, @carbajalsalud.
