John,

I’m Richard Carlbom, and I’m honored to be stepping into a new role as chair of the Minnesota DFL.

I got involved in politics because I wanted to help improve people’s lives. I know that’s what drives many of you too, and I’m committed to fighting for those shared values as DFL chair. Together, we’ll build a stronger, more successful party and deliver meaningful change.

To turn our values into action, we need a clear plan. When I was running for chair, I made three key commitments:

We will organize: We can’t wait until election year to engage with voters. Our party will start organizing earlier, especially in Greater Minnesota and communities that are too often the last to receive attention.

We will have deeply relational conversations with voters: Many voters are conflicted. To build trust with people that walked away from our candidates in the last election, we’ll listen to and learn from Minnesotans.

We will launch a rapid response war room: We’ll create a new war room to deliver messaging, tools, and clear action steps to local leaders, volunteers, candidates, and activists. This will help us engage more communities and elevate voices that resonate with voters.

This model will help us continue our statewide winning streak, but we’re going to invest in local races too. We’re going to do the work—talking with voters in red and purple districts and making sure DFLers turnout. And together, we’re going to win tough races.

John, I’m ready to get to work—and I know you are too. Let’s get out there!

Thank you,

Richard Carlbom
Chair
Minnesota DFL
