Dear john,

The Department of Labor has proposed a new regulation - (IRAP) Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program.  This IRAP proposal establishes a system in which a non-union contractor could recognize its own “apprenticeship program” that would NOT be subject to many of the same requirements that our DOL recognized apprenticeships are subject to.  I am asking you to mobilize and submit comments to the DOL in support of the construction industry exemption.

A website has been set up so all rank & file members, their families and friends can easily submit individualized comments to the DOL.  Comments are DUE BY MIDNIGHT - AUGUST 26, 2019 and can be done in just a few minutes by following these 5 easy steps:

1. LOG ON - Visit www.saveIBEWapprenticeships.org

2. CLICK YOUR BRANCH - Select the page most appropriate for you by clicking one of the following red boxes at the bottom of the page: Construction Branch INSIDE, Construction Branch OUTSIDE or Other Members/Friends/Family.

3. COMPLETE THE FORM – Scroll down until you see fields for your contact information.  Please complete as many of these fields as you can.  The more fields you complete, the more individualized your comment letter will be.

4. PREVIEW / EDIT - Preview or edit your comment letter by clicking the red “preview” or “edit” buttons located at the bottom of the form.  If you choose to edit your comment, please remember to be respectful and limit your comments to this proposed regulation.

5. SEND & SHARE – Once you have reviewed your comment and made any changes, simply click the “send” box.  Your comment will be sent directly to the DOL.  You will receive an emailed confirmation when the DOL processes your comment.  After you have submitted your comment, please share www.saveIBEWapprenticeships.org with your family and friends.

This only takes a few minutes and we are asking all our union Brothers and Sisters to show their support for IBEW and the Building Trades by following the steps listed above.

In Solidarity,
Fred Yamashita
