Enough. It's time for us to take a hard look at uncomfortable truths. It's time for us to face the deep, open wound we have in this nation. We need justice for George Floyd. - Joe Biden
Every time another Black person's death at the hands of law enforcement or white vigilantism makes national news, I go through a similar cycle of emotions.
I'm angry that our systems have failed again. I'm furious that there are more names added to the list of Black lives that were cut short. And I feel helpless to do anything to stop it from happening -- to keep someone I love from being next.
And then I feel numb from the weight of feeling all of those emotions at once.
But there is danger in that numbness. Because I know that the only way anything is going to change is if I do something about it -- if we do something about it.
That's why I'm personally reaching out to you today. I believe that if we all step up, we can actually confront the issues that perpetuate racial injustice and inequality, so I'm asking you to take action today.
If you're able to contribute, will you please make a contribution to support the NAACP's crucial work to combat the deep-rooted, structural racism in our country?

Until we finally have justice, we must keep doing this hard work. For George Floyd and for every other Black life that was taken from us. I hope you'll take action today.
Thank you,

Folks,
We are bearing witness to a moment in history during which our very character as Americans is being called into question -- as it should be.
Because when a police officer murders a black man on camera, in front of God and the entire world, people have the right to ask a whole lot of questions.
When is this going to stop? What's it going to take? When will we say we've had enough?
The truth is it gets harder to answer these questions every time something like this happens.
Because it should have been enough when Trayvon Martin was killed. Sandra Bland. Philando Castile. Ahmaud Arbery. Atatiana Jefferson. And so many more.
The heartbreaking, shameful fact is that there are countless other Black Americans throughout history whose deaths have come as a result of systemic racism. One life lost should have been enough.
So we must do more than say we have had enough -- we must put something behind our words.
We've got to speak, act, work, and vote like we've had enough. What we do in this moment in history will define us, and we must all answer this call to action.
That's why we're asking you to support the NAACP's work to bring justice for George Floyd and the countless other Black lives that have been cut short by systemic racism today. If you can afford to do so today, please give what you can to support their important work:

In these uncertain times, we understand that it may not be feasible for you to make a contribution. If that's the case for you, we urge you to please join the fight in any way you can. You can sign the NAACP's petition to demand justice for George Floyd here.
