2. CHARLOTTE OBSERVER: Could full convention remain in Charlotte after all? NC lawmakers are prepared to try and force Governor Cooper to allow the convention
Republicans in the North Carolina House will file a bill to require capacity attendance at all events for the scheduled Republican National Convention in Charlotte in August.
The move is aimed at keeping the Republican National Committee from moving parts or all of the event to another state.
Organizers have said President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech — the signature event of the convention — would be moved from Charlotte because Gov. Roy Cooper won’t guarantee that 19,000 people would be allowed in the Spectrum Center due to the coronavirus pandemic.

3. FOX NEWS: Supreme Court rejects challenge to limits on church services; Roberts sides with liberals
"A divided Supreme Court on Friday rejected an emergency appeal by a California church that challenged state limits on attendance at worship services that have been imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Over the dissent of the four more conservative justices, Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court's four liberals in turning away a request from the South Bay United Pentecostal Church in Chula Vista, California, in the San Diego area."

4. WBTV: North Carolina Bar and Tavern Association files lawsuit against Governor Cooper’s office
“On behalf of 185 businesses, the North Carolina Bar and Tavern Association (NCBATA) filed a lawsuit to have private bars included under the same reopening safety rules as dining establishments and breweries.
The NCBATA has repeatedly asked the governor’s office for a reopening date for private bars to no avail.
“Despite our numerous requests, the governor’s office has offered no science or data showing that having a drink in a private bar is more dangerous than having a drink in a brewery bar, distillery bar, or even a restaurant bar,” said association President Zack Medford.”
As a result the North State Journal notes <[link removed]>, “Gov. Roy Cooper rolled out a new executive order and mentioned the possibility of a ‘phase 2.5’ to open more businesses in industries that are currently suing the governor.”

5. NORTH STATE JOURNAL: Early voting has begun in NC11 runoff primary; Trump endorses Bennett
"President Donald Trump on Thursday endorsed Lynda Bennett in the Republican primary runoff <[link removed]> for a western North Carolina congressional seat held until recently by his new chief of staff, Mark Meadows.
Bennett, a real estate company owner from Haywood County, got Trump’s support in a tweet on the day early in-person voting began within the mountainous 11th Congressional District. The election between Bennett and Madison Cawthorn is June 23.”

WEEKLY PRAYER: PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Lord, we exist to give You glory. We exist because of Your glory, and in Your glory, as our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. We give you thanks and praise for every breath and moment You have given to us. We repent of our sin; for the shameful things we have done against You and for our silence when we did not speak up to proclaim Your Name, profess Your Word, or protect and practice Your will. We ask Your forgiveness. We pray that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord will spread across our nation and the entire earth as we seek Your Kingdom and righteousness; as we walk in obedience to You, and in humble unity, love one another. Jesus, the Bible says that You are “the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.” You have taught us to pray, commanded us to love, and commissioned us to share Your gospel of grace. Your glory fills our hearts and families, it overflows into our neighborhoods, workplaces, campuses, churches, entertainment, and media. We give thanks for our military and ask that Your glory would spread to, and through them as they preserve freedom around the world. We pray for our government, that all of our leaders and laws would be filled with Your glory, that they would magnify Your Holy Word and honor Your will and ways. We pray that Your grace and glory would spread to bring hope to the hopeless, and love where there is hurt and hate. God, use us as we pray your promise, that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” In Jesus Name, Amen! <[link removed]>
