It is simply unfathomable that this country’s top military and intelligence officials and the Vice President of the United States were discussing classified details of an active military operation over a non-secure messaging platform. I called for Secretary of Defense Hegseth to resign or be removed for recklessly sharing target and weapons information outside of secure channels and endangering the lives of our men and women in uniform.

At the very least, the administration should launch a thorough investigation into the communications methods being used to share information among senior officials, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Director Ratcliffe and Director Gabbard. Instead, President Trump is standing by his appointees and refusing to hold them accountable.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence held an open hearing this week , where I questioned Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe about their involvement in a Signal chat that leaked sensitive military operation details. Unfortunately, after my questioning, it is clear that they do not take the intelligence community and its vital work seriously. I have grave concerns about the security of our nation and the safety of U.S. intelligence sources around the world in the hands of this group of individuals. The fact that none of those involved in this incident have offered their resignation or have been fired is outrageous.
