Y'all,
As we ramp up to elect a new Texas Democratic Party Chair, we want to commemorate the time and labor that our outgoing Chair has devoted to our cause.
Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, Chair Gilberto Hinojosa was the first in his family to attend college. He went on to study law and became an immigration lawyer.
A public servant from the very beginning, Hinojosa dedicated his legal career to helping folks navigate our country’s backward immigration system. He also served as the County Judge of Cameron County, Texas from 1995 to 2006, making sure our government properly served Texans.
For the past 12 years, Chair Hinojosa has devoted himself to leading our party forward. His deep commitment to building a Texas of justice and equity has inspired each and every one of us here at the Texas Democratic Party.

During his tenure, Chair Hinojosa led us to:
* Knock on over 52 million doors
* Make over 98 million phone calls
* Text voters over 243 million times
* Recruit nearly 300,000 volunteers
We’ve made great strides toward a Texas where everyone can attend fully funded public schools, access quality healthcare, and lead lives free of violence. That work continues.
As we eagerly await tomorrow’s decision on the next leader of our party, we are thankful to have you with us.
Yours always,
Texas Democratic Party
