7.7 EARTHQUAKE STRIKES MYANMAR
Mercy Corps teams are preparing to meet the urgent needs of families

This is urgent:

A massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar near Mandalay today, killing at least 144 people and causing widespread destruction.

The disaster has severely damaged critical infrastructure, including the collapse of a major bridge and several nursery schools. The entire region is without electricity and few homes have been spared.

Myanmar’s communities, already grappling with ongoing conflict and economic instability, are now facing a dire crisis.

Mercy Corps is rushing to respond, assessing and preparing to meet families’ most urgent needs, but we need your help. Please send an urgent gift in this moment of crisis.

Even before this disaster, 20 million people in Myanmar needed aid, with up to 4 million internally displaced due to ongoing conflict. Shrinking international funding has already made survival even harder.

Since 2008, Mercy Corps has been working in Myanmar, providing cash assistance, agricultural support, and community resilience and conflict resolution.

We will now ramp up our efforts to meet the urgent needs of families affected by this disaster.

Please, will you contribute to this critical emergency response with a gift that will support our teams in Myanmar and around the globe?

We’ll have more updates on this rapidly developing situation soon. Thanks for your generosity in this time of need.
