It’s Time for Real Senate Leadership!
The Senate recently passed the dirty Republican spending bill, giving Musk and Trump free rein to escalate their dismantling of critical programs that protect our food, water, health, and climate. Rather than leading the Senate opposition to this bad deal, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer voted to advance it — earning Trump’s praise.
What kind of opposition leadership is this?! Tell Schumer to step down as Senate Minority Leader. It’s time for real leadership.

Iowa Cancer Gag Act Rally
In February, we joined over 150 Iowans at the State Capitol to oppose the Cancer Gag Act. This outrageous bill would shield pesticide makers from lawsuits related to the health harms of their products.
Despite widespread public opposition to the bill, Iowa senators have charged ahead with it. We can’t let corporations dodge accountability for their harm — we’ll continue fighting the Cancer Gag Act and pushing the Clean Water Act for Iowa to protect our health from Big Ag’s toxic pollution. California Lawmakers Bring Back the Climate Superfund Act!
Climate Superfund legislation requires fossil fuel companies that contributed most to the climate emergency to pay damages. Last year, we passed a Climate Superfund law in New York. But massive lobbying from the oil and gas industries shut one down in California.
Now avid support and organizing from groups like Food & Water Watch have brought it back to the table. In February, lawmakers reintroduced California’s Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act! We’re also fighting for Climate Superfund laws in New Jersey, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

Governors: Stop Microplastics in our Water!
As more studies emerge on the health impacts of microplastics, these tiny bits of plastic pollution are now ever-present in our drinking water. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must start monitoring them to pave the way toward protective regulations.
We can push the EPA to monitor microplastics by getting at least seven governors to petition the agency to do so. Tell your governor to defend our health from microplastics and call on the EPA to take action!
The Jungle Film Screening and Director Chat
The new documentary The Jungle unravels centuries of greed and exploitation in America's meat industry. A modern take on Upton Sinclair’s shocking 1906 novel on this industry, this film also shows how Indigenous knowledge can inform an equitable food system for both people and the planet.
Join us on April 23 for a virtual screening of The Jungle, followed by a discussion with the director, Matt Wechsler. You won’t want to miss this!
