Email from Rep. Van Duyne I'm leading a bipartisan and bicameral group to introduce legislation that will modernize our healthcare system Washington, D.C.– I recently had the chance to chat with fellow Texan, Yvonne McGill, who works for Dell as their Chief Financial Officer, about policies that will create a stronger, more prosperous economy here in America. On Tuesday, we recognized the 3,528 service members who have received the Medal of Honor for going above and beyond the call of duty. This week the National Medal of Honor Museum officially opened in North Texas, offering a beautiful tribute to these heroes. My Ways and Means colleagues and I had a subcommittee hearing on trade. We are working with the Trump Administration to expand market access and ensure American farmers and job creators have the fair opportunities they deserve. You can listen to my remarks here. I had the opportunity to meet with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas. We talked about my continued work on Ways and Means to expand access to healthcare and lower costs for working families. Later in the week, it was great talk with Brooke Shields about her work with Actors’ Equity to support nearly 50,000 stage actors and managers across the country. Glad she had the chance to stop by our office! Then, I met with the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas, who represents the multifamily industry in North Texas, including over 1,000 companies, 3,600 properties, and 728,000 units. We discussed the importance of maintaining the pass through deduction for small businesses. I shared how I helped introduce legislation that would make this deduction permanent. That afternoon I had the opportunity to visit the White House for the announcement of the Republican Women’s Caucus. Thank you President Trump for having us! It was so great to attend with these strong ladies, Reps. Lee, Miller-Meeks, Bice, McClain, Senator Moody, Pam Bondi, and Karoline Leavitt. It was great to see Chris Jahn of the American Chemistry Council (ACC). We were able to talk about my work to repeal excise taxes that target chemical manufacturers, critical chemicals, and minerals. These materials are essential for the production of goods we use in our homes, and repealing the taxes will help lower costs across the country. Thursday, I voted to overturn the Energy Department's burdensome new standards for refrigerators and freezers. With my House Republican colleagues we have continued to reverse these Biden-era regulations that have driven up prices for American families. We also voted to pass the DETERRENT ACT, which will bring much-needed transparency and help combat foreign influence in our universities. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, I led a bipartisan and bicameral group to introduce legislation that will modernize our healthcare system and improve access for vulnerable populations.
