This Women’s History Month, we’re reminded of why Vote Mama’s mission is so important in pushing boundaries and breaking down barriers toward equality. The release of Vote Mama PAC’s 2024 Annual Report highlights our strides and continued commitment to progress for moms in politics. Our strategy for winning in 2025 is already in motion, while our elected moms are on the frontlines at every level of office, fighting back against the relentless attacks from Trump and his allies.

OUR MAMAS FIGHTING BACK

Virginia Congresswoman Rep. Jennifer McClellan made headlines when she boldly criticized the Administration’s decisions to abandon global allies, “chainsaw” our federal agencies, and offer billionaire tax cuts at the expense of working families. But this trailblazing mama didn’t stop there. The following day, she announced her staunch opposition to Trump’s fiscal policies and voted against the proposal to strip the federal government of its workforce. Watch the full video of Rep. Following Trump’s freezing of federal funds and grants programs, Wisconsin State Senator Kelda Roys organized a press conference drawing attention to the urgent need for Head Start funds to be released. Sen. Roys has a long track record of advocating for the program, which provides child care and preschool education to low-income children — and she is standing up against Trump’s attempts at compromising our children’s well-being for his personal agenda.

In 2022, Michigan Congresswoman Rep. Hillary Scholten became the first Democrat to represent her historically conservative district in the U.S. House since the 1970s. Last year, she was re-elected for a second term. In Congress, Rep. Scholten has been vocal in calling out the Trump administration, including condemning the senseless mass firings of thousands of federal workers and demanding accountability and oversight of DOGE. And just this month, Rep. Scholten announced she is running for a third term, stating:

“I came to Congress to stand up for West Michigan, and I intend to keep standing up for West Michigan. There are too many fights happening in Washington right now that directly affect the people I represent–fights I won’t walk away from.”

OUR MAMAS LEADING IN THE POLLS

Both of our endorsed mamas currently running for Governor were reported as leading in the polls this month! Swing state voters are making it clear that they want to see pro-choice moms in charge.

• After being in a lock-tie with her presumed Republican opponent in the race for governor of Virginia, recent polls are putting Abigail Spanberger now AHEAD BY 15%, leading 39% to 24%!
• Polling out of Michigan currently shows Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson with a solid DOUBLE-DIGIT LEAD in her race for governor: in the three-way hypothetical race between her, a Republican congressman, and an Independent, she’s ahead with 42% to their 30% and 21% respectively.

OUR 2025 ENDORSED MAMAS

Vote Mama’s focus for 2025 and 2026 is to: increase the number of Democratic moms serving at the federal level, defend the Democratic majority in the Virginia House of Delegates, AND expand, defend, or flip state legislative chambers and school boards from red to blue in battleground states -- by electing Democratic moms.

The first quarter of the year is coming to a close: we’ve laid the groundwork and now we’re charging ahead. We’re rolling out endorsement announcements next month!

Our comprehensive strategy is designed to increase the political power of pro-choice Democratic moms at EVERY level of office so that we have a strong line of defense against Trump and extremist attacks.
