Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem just let slip that the Trump administration is planning to get rid of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), an agency she’s in charge of. This step is the latest in the Trump administration’s crusade against federal agencies that provide lifelines and safety nets for ordinary Americans.
As natural disasters continue to rise in frequency and intensity as a result of climate change, we need stronger disaster response systems – and we obviously shouldn’t be getting rid of them altogether. These systems are vital to ensuring we can save countless lives when disaster strikes.
The Trump administration is detached from scientific reality and has dropped the pretense of caring about ordinary Americans. Will you donate to SEEC PAC to elect advocates to Congress who will fight for FEMA and the crucial aid it provides when disaster strikes? [[link removed]]

During FEMA’s nearly half century of operation, they have responded to natural and man-made disasters alike, from 3 Mile Island to Hurricane Sandy. In their response to Hurricane Sandy, FEMA distributed 20 million liters of water, 16 million meals, 1.7 million blankets, 79,000 cots, 138,000 tarps, 568 generators, and so much more.
It cannot be understated how morally bankrupt this latest attack by the Trump administration is. FEMA administrators were caught blindsided by Kristi Noem’s statement, and we’re all still unsure as to when or how this dismantling will take place. It is abundantly clear that this Cabinet is just blindly following Trump’s lead with no regard for the Americans whose livelihoods are potentially endangered.
We need to elect leaders to Congress who will stand up to Trump’s unscientific, morally bankrupt attacks. From FEMA to the EPA, Trump is attempting to dismantle vital agencies that defend our environment and our lives. Will you donate now to elect climate champions to Congress that will fight for you?
