Thank you -- I’m so grateful to everyone for doing their part during this difficult time for New Jersey and the country.

I’m working across the aisle to ensure New Jersey families, small businesses, and our communities receive the support they need to overcome the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

State and local governments play an essential role during this pandemic, including setting up testing sites and providing personal protective equipment.

But as more people stay at home, our state and local economies are losing critical revenue. Without federal support the consequences could create even more devastation -- they may be forced to lay off firefighters and teachers or make cutbacks to trash pick-up and road maintenance.

That’s why I launched a bipartisan coalition in Congress to introduce legislation that would provide New Jersey and other frontline state and local governments with the support they need to avoid:

• Mass layoffs
• Property tax increases
• Cuts to essential services

Previous coronavirus relief packages only gave New Jersey 2% of federal funding despite our state accounting for more than 10% of the country’s COVID-19 cases. This legislation would rectify that by prioritizing the hardest hit communities.

Even amid great challenges, New Jersey’s signature grit and strength have shown through as everyone does their part to navigate this crisis. Now, we need the federal government to step up, too.
