“[It] will decide how congressional districts are drawn in Wisconsin.” John, Elon Musk just said the quiet part out loud. We all know that Tuesday’s Wisconsin Supreme Court election is one of 2025’s most critical, most competitive races. Now we know why Musk has spent nearly $20 million in trying to defeat us. It’s the same reason President Trump endorsed Brad Schimel, the right-wing candidate in the race. If Schimel wins, they’ll get a chance to bring back extreme Republican gerrymanders as part of an all-out fight to hold on to their razor-thin majority in the House. If Schimel wins this race, it doesn’t look like he’ll waste any time boosting Trump’s far-right agenda on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He’s made it clear he wants to be a part of a “support network” for this administration. The good news is voters are clearly tuned in — the Associated Press reported that “turnout during the first week of early voting ahead of Wisconsin’s pivotal state supreme court race is far exceeding levels from another high-stakes election just two years ago.” That is a direct testament to the importance of this race. Critical issues including reproductive freedom, voting rights, and fair representation are at stake along with control of the court. And voters are showing up to make their voices heard. As Election Day quickly approaches, we’re also facing 2025’s first end-of-quarter fundraising deadline on Monday at midnight. The amount we raise by then will help determine how much we can invest in the fight for fair maps and fair elections through the rest of the year.
Thank you so much,
The NDRC Team
