Hi John,

Jacob here. Recently, I was talking to a voter who told me they wanted to know more about Nancy. They told me they know Nancy is a scientist, but they wanted to know more.

In case you might be wondering the same thing, I’m reaching out today to share why I am proud to be working to elect Nancy Goroff to Congress in NY-01.

In addition to being an incredible chemist, Nancy has been a fierce advocate for her community. She’s lived in the district for 23 years, raised her family here, and sent her daughters through the Three Village public school system.

Women in academia face many obstacles that make it more difficult to secure leadership positions. Nancy, however, didn’t let those challenges stop her. At Stony Brook University, Nancy has served as the Chair of the Chemistry Department, as Associate Provost for the Integration of Research, Education, and Professional Development, and as Interim Dean of the Graduate School.

As Chair of Chemistry, Nancy oversaw a multi-million dollar budget and a department of over 300 people. And as Associate Provost, when Nancy learned that scientists were working without access to health care, she led the fight to ensure all researchers at Stony Brook secured access to quality health care.

Nancy runs a research lab that creates new organic semiconductors to make solar energy more affordable and attainable, bringing federal dollars to the district in the process. And with her partners, Nancy helped develop entrepreneurship programs that inspire students to redefine technological boundaries and create new products.

Outside of the University, Nancy has worked to elect Democrats across the district in the off-year elections like Anthony Portesy, who told me “the thing that makes Nancy different is that she gives a damn. During my campaign last year, Nancy was one of the most engaged and active volunteers, and she was always ready to talk to any voter here in Brookhaven to ensure families had the leadership they deserve. Nancy understands that we need partners in federal government to address quality of life issue improvements from infrastructure to water quality concerns here in Cd-1.”

Nancy has advocated and lobbied for fact-based policy that serves our community through groups like Planned Parenthood, the Institute for Digital Media and Child Development, and the Union of Concerned Scientists. On the arts front, Nancy is the president of Gallery North, a not-for-profit gallery in Setauket which promotes contemporary regional arts and crafts.

At a time when advocacy and real leadership are missing, we need people like Nancy who will use facts, data, and science to guide us out of these uncertain times. I trust that Nancy is exactly the candidate families in NY-01 need fighting for them in Washington.

On behalf of our whole team, thank you for investing your time, money, and efforts into supporting our campaign. We’ve got a lot of work to do in the next 18 days, and we are all grateful to have you on this team.

We need all hands on deck over the next few weeks. Can Nancy and our team count on you to sign up for a volunteer shift (or a few) to help us turn out the voters we need to win? You can sign up for a shift here: [link removed]

We can’t elect Nancy without you.

Thanks again,
Jacob Sarkozi
