General Ignacio Zaragoza led Mexican forces to a historic victory against the French in Puebla, an achievement now celebrated as Cinco de Mayo. The Zaragoza Birthplace State Historic Site, located in Goliad, has recently come under the stewardship of the Texas Historical Commission, marking it as our 41st historic site.
