As we wrap up March 2025, I’m proud to share some of the work we’ve accomplished across California to support our environment, grow our economy, and invest in our future through education. These milestones reflect our shared commitment to sustainable growth, opportunity, and equity for all Californians. |
Strengthening California’s Economy |
Supporting Small Businesses in Silicon Valley
I had the pleasure of joining Senator Aisha Wahab, Mayor Matt Mahan, and Councilmember Peter Ortiz for a packed Small Business Workshop in San Jose—the #1 city for small businesses, according to Forbes! With many businesses operating for over a decade, this region shows the power of innovation and community support. Our discussions focused on improving access to capital and the vital role local and state partnerships play in helping entrepreneurs thrive. |
Celebrating the Impact of Cal IIP
We gathered in Sacramento with Working Solutions CDFI to highlight the achievements of the California Investment and Innovation Program (Cal IIP). This program has invested in small businesses, affordable housing, healthcare, early childhood care, and more. It’s about lifting up entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and community-based solutions that work. |
Afterschool and Expanded Learning Advocacy
At the Cordial Caucus Reception, I joined The California Afterschool Advocacy Alliance (CA3) and incredible education leaders to celebrate the importance of afterschool and expanded learning programs. These initiatives are essential to helping students thrive beyond the classroom and supporting working families. Investing in them means investing in our state’s future. |
Standing Up for Pregnancy Leave for Educators
I joined advocates at a press conference in Sacramento to support AB 65, a bill that ensures pregnancy leave protections for educators. It’s time we value our educators not only for their work in the classroom but for their full humanity. This is about fairness, dignity, and doing what's right. |
Honoring Leadership & Community |
Promoting Unity at the Interfaith Iftar
I was honored to attend the Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd Annual Interfaith Iftar, where I received the WOW Women Award for leadership and public service. Events like these remind us of the strength in unity, peace, and cross-cultural connection. |
ICYMI: Mayors Across California Back Fiona Ma for Lt. Governor |
From small business growth to educational equity and cultural connection, March was full of reminders that real progress is made when we work together. As we head into spring, I remain committed to partnering with communities across California to build a brighter, more inclusive future.
