Families in Transition-New Horizons is committed to ending racial disparities in homelessness in New Hampshire.

As we experience frustration and upheaval in cities and states around the country, it is critical that we take action to demand and achieve dignity, equity, and respect for those suffering at the hand of racial injustice. We condemn the senseless violence inflicted against African Americans and we are recommitting ourselves to the work to end racism.

The prevalence of racial inequity in the country among homeless and low-income individuals and families is a statistical fact and a systemic challenge that must be transformed. One thing which is very clear is that African Americans and other marginalized populations are much more likely to experience homelessness as a result of this inequity. We are committed to ensuring that this historical injustice not be perpetuated in our communities.

As a part of our mission to provide hunger relief, emergency shelter, safe affordable housing, and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless or in need, Families in Transition-New Horizons is committed to ending racial disparities in homelessness in New Hampshire. This starts with intensifying our work to apply a racial justice lens on all of our own practices, programs, protocols, and philosophies, while also making investments in equity training and the implementation of equity practices within our organization. We will continue to make our voices heard for positive change at the local, state, and national levels and join all of those advocating for justice in communities across New Hampshire and across our country.

Sincerely,

Interim Leadership Team
