30 Years, 30 Stories: Celebrating progress at the UN Commission on the Status of Women [[link removed]]
Thirty years ago, the United Nations adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action , a bold agenda for advancing women's rights. At the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) March 10–21, 2025, in New York, global leaders assessed progress in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) since 1995 and the challenges ahead.
To mark this milestone, we're sharing 30 Years, 30 Stories [[link removed]] , highlighting key gains in maternal health care, abortion access, gender equality, and human rights across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
The Center for Reproductive Rights' discussions at CSW reinforced our commitment to making the promise of the Beijing Platform a reality:
* At Daring to Deliver: Ensuring SRHR for Adolescents , Enid Muthoni Ndiga , Chief Program Officer at the Center, moderated a discussion on barriers adolescents face in exercising their SRHR, and the importance of comprehensive sexuality education
* In Equality and Non-Discrimination for the Next 30 Years , Katrine Thomasen , Associate Director for Europe at the Center, joined a panel on gender equality, abortion rights, and conscientious objection.
* From Beijing to Belém do Pará featured Catalina Martínez Coral , Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Center, alongside other global leaders reflecting on efforts to combat gender-based violence. Catalina also moderated From Silence to Justice , which showcased legal victories against sexual violence and forced pregnancies in Latin America.

CRR at SXSW 2025: Abortion, AI & Advocacy [[link removed]]
New research from the Institute for Women's Policy Research [[link removed]] in collaboration with the Center for Reproductive Rights confirmed that access to reproductive health care is playing a key role in employee recruitment and retention. Most workers want employer-covered reproductive health benefits—and many are willing to relocate to secure them. [[link removed]]
Earlier this month in Austin, Texas, this critical issue took center stage at the South by Southwest Conference (SXSW) during the Reproductive Freedom: Good for Workers, Good for Business panel featuring our President & CEO, Nancy Northup, alongside Dr. Chelsea Clinton and other leaders. They discussed the shifting legal landscape, strategies for businesses to navigate policies, and how local leaders are fighting to protect reproductive rights.
Rachana Desai Martin, our Chief Government & External Relations Officer, spoke on Protecting Reproductive Freedom: What Leaders and Companies Must Do Now , highlighting corporate advocacy efforts like Don't Ban Equality .
Julia Taylor Kennedy, our Senior Director of Corporate Engagement, explored AI’s impact on women’s health care and its intersection with reproductive rights on a separate panel.
