VIDEO OF THE DAY: JD Vance and his wife get most unwelcome surprise in Greenland
The Trump administration isn't exactly getting the hero's welcome they were hoping for in Greenland. Hilarious reports note that Trump officials went door-to-door looking for literally any Greenlanders who might be up for a publicity-stunt visit from JD and Usha Vance on their "cultural visit" and — we know this will shock you — found exactly no takers. Oh, how the walrus tears floweth!

Trump caves, asks Rep. Elise Stefanik to withdraw from UN ambassador nomination to protect thin margins in GOP-controlled House
It's a really good sign that your administration's agenda is wildly popular with the people when you're pulling Cabinet nominations to avoid having to run special elections in *checks notes* deep-red Trump districts. Yuuuuup. This is going great.

Elon Musk drops money bomb on critical state Supreme Court race
State Democracy Defenders: The most important race in the country right now is in Wisconsin where the balance of the Supreme Court (in America's purplest state!) will hinge on one seat that is on the ballot in 20 days. Elon is spending millions to buy the race — and the court and state — for Trump. Click here to fight back and stop Musk and Trump!
Harvard Medical School researcher shipped to Louisiana ICE facility after visa revocation
Harvard Medical School researcher Kseniia Petrova has been thrown into a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement gulag in Louisiana after her research visa was revoked last month because she inadvertently failed to properly declare...frog embryos she brought into the country. Truly a clear and present danger to the American people. Petrova was arrested in her native Russia in 2022 for protesting Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine and is understandably terrified at the prospect of being sent back. "She cannot return to Russia without being jailed or harmed," said her lawyer, Gregory Romanovsky in a statement. "It’s going to be a suicide for her to go back." Leonid L. Peshkin, an HMS lecturer who worked closely with Petrova, said in an interview that she "has been probably the strongest person I’ve seen in 15 or so years at Harvard Medical School." Welcome to the Trump brain drain.

Trump signs executive order ending collective bargaining rights for many federal workers
Dictator Trump unilaterally and very illegally attempted to end collective bargaining rights for federal workers across a slew of agencies, including the departments of State, Defense, Justice, and Health and Human Services. It also impacts the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Federal Communications Commission, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "President Trump’s latest executive order is a disgraceful and retaliatory attack on the rights of hundreds of thousands of patriotic American civil servants — nearly one-third of whom are veterans — simply because they are members of a union that stands up to his harmful policies," said AFGE National President Everett Kelley, who vowed immediate legal action.

Andrew Tate's girlfriend files police report accusing him of strangling her
Andrew Tate, the credibly accused rapist, sex trafficker, and self-proclaimed misogynist — freed from a Romanian prison with a hefty assist from the Trump administration — wasn't even home for an entire month before committing yet another sex crime. One of Tate's girlfriends, Bri Stern, says he nearly choked her unconscious during a violent sexual encounter. Documents from an emergency room visit show that she was "post-concussive." Luckily, Trump cannot use the State Department to extradite Tate from Los Angeles.
Yale professor who studies fascism fleeing US to work in Canada
Jason Stanley, who wrote the 2018 book How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, has decided to leave the United States to work in Toronto. Stanley told the Daily Nous, a philosophy profession website, that he made the decision "to raise my kids in a country that is not tilting towards a fascist dictatorship...Part of it is you’re leaving because ultimately, it is like leaving Germany in 1932, 33, 34. There’s resonance: my grandmother left Berlin with my father in 1939. So it’s a family tradition." That should uh, ring some SERIOUS alarm bells for the rest of us.
Trump pushes to control all of Ukraine’s mineral and energy assets in sweeping new demands
Donald Trump is now seeking US control over ALL of Ukraine’s rare minerals and energy assets — including oil and gas — in extraordinary new proposals to Kyiv. The wannabe dictator's latest proposals go far beyond the minerals deal that collapsed following Trump and Vance's made-for-TV ambush of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House last month. The new deal would see the US receive all royalties from such assets until Ukraine has paid off at least $100 billion of war debt, and hand Kyiv just 50 per cent thereafter — while offering no guarantees of security from Russian aggression in return.
Putin says Trump's push for Greenland rooted in history, vows to uphold Russian interest in the Arctic
Vladimir Putin said Thursday that President Donald Trump’s push for control over Greenland wasn't surprising given longtime US interest in the mineral-rich territory. Speaking at a policy forum in the Arctic port of Murmansk, Putin noted that the United States first considered plans to win control over Greenland in the 19th century, and then offered to buy it from Denmark after World War II. "It can look surprising only at first glance and it would be wrong to believe that this is some sort of extravagant talk by the current US administration," Putin said. "It’s obvious that the United States will continue to systematically advance its geostrategic, military-political, and economic interests in the Arctic."
Suspected US airstrikes hit Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen
The Trump administration is apparently ramping up its attacks in Yemen, in a troubling escalation of ongoing regional conflict overshadowed, at least for the moment, by the staggering ineptitude of the White House's Signal scandal that exploded into public view this week. Suspected US airstrikes pummeled sites across Yemen controlled by the Houthi rebels early Friday, including neighborhoods in the capital, Sanaa, and the city's international airport. Initial reports from the Houthis described at least seven people being hurt, though that number will doubtlessly rise. Other strikes hit around the Red Sea port city of Hodeida, the rebel’s stronghold of Saada, and in Yemen’s al-Jawf, Amran, and Marib governorates.
"We made a mistake": Republican House rep wants Congress to take back tariff power from Trump
Stand by — and ready exactly zero tears — for imminent, sophomoric personal attacks from Donald Trump and his crusading tax war goons against Nebraska Republican Don Bacon for daring to speak a modicum of truth. How long will it take before Republicans realize the gravity of their error in handing the proverbial keys to the kingdom to a man who literally wants to be king?

Doom and doomer
