Fleet in Action. Threats in Sight.

|
Dear John,
This week, Sea Shepherd’s fleet is on the move, shifting between critical operations to defend and rescue marine life. Ships are arriving, departing, and reinforcing key areas, ensuring that illegal fishing doesn’t go unchecked. Here’s where they are right now and what’s happening on the water:

|
|
SEAHORSE: Holding the Line in the Vaquita Porpoise Refuge
After resupplying, Seahorse is back in the Zero Tolerance Area (ZTA), ensuring it remains a true sanctuary for the world’s most endangered marine mammal. This ship has already driven illegal fishing completely out of the ZTA, and with 24/7 surveillance, immediate net retrieval, and animal rescue capabilities, it is redefining what it means to protect a marine reserve. The Seahorse is the first of a new model of sentry ships—constantly on patrol, ensuring that poachers never get another chance to set their nets.

BOB BARKER: From Sea Lion Rescue to Stopping Totoaba Trade
The Bob Barker is preparing for a sea lion rescue operation, where specialists will work to cut entangled animals free from deadly fishing gear. After this mission, the ship will deploy to the Vaquita Refuge, expanding patrols beyond the ZTA to stop poachers who try to operate just outside the protected zone. As Seahorse’s sister ship, Bob Barker brings the same enforcement model to a wider area, making sure illegal fishers have nowhere to hide.

SHARKWATER: Enforcing Protection at Scorpion Reef
Now stationed at Scorpion Reef, Sharkwater has taken over the campaign from Bob Barker, continuing efforts to keep this critical marine reserve free from illegal fishing. Mexican officials are onboard, reinforcing conservation laws and ensuring that protections are upheld. While legal frameworks exist, Sharkwater’s presence makes it clear that these laws are not just words—they are actively enforced.

ALLANKAY: Tracking Krill Trawlers in Antarctica
The Allankay has departed Ushuaia and is en route to Antarctica, where industrial krill trawlers threaten the entire Southern Ocean ecosystem. These factory ships strip the ocean of the vital food source for whales, seals, and penguins, operating far from scrutiny. But with Allankay on their trail, their destruction will not go unnoticed.

|
STORM: Advancing Humpback Conservation in Revillagigedo
After transporting Sea Shepherd and CONANP crews to Revillagigedo, The Storm has been instrumental in supporting ongoing humpback whale studies. These missions have already led to critical policy changes, including vessel speed limits to prevent ship strikes. By turning scientific research into real-world protections, this crew is ensuring a safer future for these migrating whales.
