As warm weather has coincided with an easing of the coronavirus restrictions, we have seen an increase of visitors to our parks. Our parks make a great space to enable family and friends to meet up, but increased visits have brought about an increase in litter. Many popular fast food outlets are also starting to open and this to could lead to an increase of litter in Nottingham.
Today is World Environment Day and a good day to think about how we can all do our bit to look after the environment. As we emerge from lockdown, it would be great to see the citys streets and open spaces remaining litter free but to achieve this we will all need to work together. There are many bins around Nottingham and in our parks with regular collections, however in busy periods it is hard to keep up with demand. If you are out in the city and the bins are full please take your rubbish home with you and help us keep Nottingham and our parks enjoyable for everyone and safe for wildlife.
The pandemic has shown us how valuable key workers are to our city and this includes the teams who empty the bins, they have worked tirelessly and have really shown great commitment in looking after our city. Taking our rubbish home with us when necessary is one small thing we can do help alleviate the workload on our already over-stretched teams.

Weather permitting many people are now starting to host small gatherings in their back gardens, it is indeed lovely to able to entertain a few friends and family members again. As well as ensuring that social distancing is adhered to, I would ask that we all respect our neighbours. Some of us will live near young families, elderly people or people doing night shifts and it is right that we consider the impact that our actions may have on others.
During the current lockdown, we have seen an increase in the number of complaints from members of the public who are affected by noise from neighbours. If noise from a neighbour becomes a nuisance, we suggest approaching the neighbour first to speak with them about it. This usually resolves the problem quickly, but if the issue persists you can report this online [link removed] [ [link removed] ] or ring 101.
