CND has been exposing the nuclear dangers of Britain's 'special relationship' with the US for decades. With Donald Trump returned to the White House - more belligerent than ever - there is growing concern about this relationship. NATO members are on a war footing and Britain is no exception, announcing billions of additional funds for military spending in Wednesday's budget.
Europe is preparing for war and US bases across Europe play a major role in NATO's war-fighting infrastructure. Britain alone hosts over 12,000 US troops at 11 RAF bases across Britain. These include RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, which will soon host long-range spy drone flights, and a spy hub at RAF Croughton in Yorkshire.
RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk has been upgraded to station deadly new B61-12, satellite-guided nuclear bombs, referred to as ‘battlefield’ bombs because the US has developed them to be used in place of conventional weapons. Given the escalation across Europe it is absolutely vital that we halt the deployment of these deadly weapons.
As part of the Lakenheath Alliance for Peace, CND is participating in LAP's peace camp, which will take place outside the base from 14-26 April.

Contact your MP: No US military radar in Wales!
CND is supporting PARC Against DARC, a fantastic grassroots campaign in Pembrokeshire that is resisting US plans to build a major, 27-dish military radar network – named Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC). The radar system, part of the AUKUS Treaty with Britain, the US and Australia, is in violation of the 1967 Outer Space Treaty’s prohibition on the national appropriation of space and undermines international law.
To build parliamentary opposition, the campaign has secured Early Day Motion 975, calling on the government to permanently withdraw its planning application for the project. Please email your MP, asking them to back the motion. You can also sign PARC Against DARC's petition to keep up to date with the campaign.

3MSP: reporting back from 2025 nuclear ban conference
Despite the British government's continued refusal to engage with the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the treaty continues to grow in support with nearly 100 countries now signed up. Earlier this month, representatives from these countries along with 1000 members of civil society groups met in New York to discuss next steps. Read a report back from the conference here.
