Creating community in the outdoors
 It’s early June. In Wyoming’s Wind River Range, snow is beginning to melt and wildlife is starting to return. Streams run high with meltwater and green vegetation fills the valleys below. In one holler, hubbub starts to return to Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp. The camp was covered with snow and bighorn sheep a few weeks earlier, but the sheep and snow have been traded for campers and wildflowers. These campers aren’t who you might expect, though. They are adult women from around the state who are here to learn outdoor skills and build community. This is Becoming an Outdoors-Woman.

Wyoming House Bill brings management of otters back to Game and Fish
Wyoming House Bill 0045, which removes otters from protected status, took effect after Gov. Mark Gordon signed the bill into law Feb. 24. For the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the bill will have important impacts for the management of otters in the state.

Governor’s Big Game License Coalition allocates $1.5 million for conservation projects
The Wyoming Governor’s Big Game License Coalition finalized its 2025 project funding and will allocate $1.5 million for Wyoming wildlife conservation projects. A total of 73 projects that benefit the committee’s five priorities were funded. Funds were generated through the sale of the Wyoming Governor's complimentary big game licenses in 2024.

New CWD cases detected in Elk Hunt area, new feedground
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has reported two new cases of chronic wasting disease: Elk Hunt Area 62 in the Cody Region and on the Horse Creek Feedground, which is located in Elk Hunt Area 84 in the Jackson Region. Horse Creek Feedground is the fourth feedground in the state to have confirmed positive for CWD among elk.
