Every year, up to 500,000 American-made firearms are trafficked into Mexico — and used to fuel corruption, deadly conflicts, and a fentanyl crisis that’s devastating American communities. A recent ATF report found that nearly 70% of firearms recovered at crime scenes in Mexico can be traced back to U.S. manufacturers or importers.

Why? Our country’s weak gun laws make it easy for cartels to exploit our system. They’re full of loopholes that allow straw purchasers and unlicensed dealers to funnel deadly weapons to criminals.

Finally, a real solution is on the table. Senator Dick Durbin and Rep. Joaquin Castro have introduced the Stop Arming Cartels Act (H.R.923/S.367), which would crack down on the unlicensed gun market and stop the deadly flow of U.S. weapons across the border.

Congress has a choice:

✅ Pass the bipartisan Stop Arming Cartels Act to close loopholes, expand background checks for bulk firearm purchases, and give law enforcement the tools to combat gun trafficking, or:
