Success spotlight
Driving growth for small, diverse, and veteran-owned businesses through WEBS
Since 2019, Washington’s Electronic Business Solution (WEBS) database has grown significantly, becoming a crucial tool for state contracting. It connects vendors with 720 customers—more than 150 are state agencies—in the place where agencies post bid opportunities. DES is working hard to ensure that small, diverse, and veteran-owned businesses have more access to these opportunities.
WEBS is the state’s enterprise vendor registration and bid notification system where businesses can post solicitations for bids.
Here's a look at how WEBS grew between 2019 and 2024:
-
Registered small businesses: Increased from 8,741 to 13,086
-
Businesses certified by the Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE): Nearly doubled from 969 to 1,553
-
Veteran-owned businesses: Increased from 1,302 to 2,513
This growth reflects the increasing role of diverse businesses in state contracting and highlights our commitment to supporting these businesses through expanded access.
The success of WEBS also relies on the dedicated support of our customer service team. In 2024, they helped more than 10,000 customers, with nearly half seeking assistance with WEBS registration and updates to their profiles.
As a purchaser, WEBS allows you to easily find small, diverse, and veteran-owned businesses and filter your search results by those categories. With more businesses registering each year, WEBS is a great resource for finding Washington suppliers. Our customer service team is ready to help you navigate WEBS and ensure business profiles are up to date, so you can find the right vendors for your needs.
