Dear John,

Have you seen the ridiculous comments made by the Greens this week?

Their Justice spokesperson Tamatha Paul thinks more cops on the beat makes Kiwis feel less safe, that we should abolish prisons, and while we’re at it, get rid of the Police too.

Chris Hipkins tried to look tough, by calling her comments ‘stupid’ and ‘ill-informed’.

But for all of Chris Hipkins’ tough talk, he’s got the exact same voting record as Tamatha Paul on law and order – a record softer than a wet sponge.

Labour and the Greens joined forces to vote against tougher sentences for violent criminals, reinstating Three Strikes, banning gang patches and giving Police the power to conduct warrantless searches on gang members.

They also both oppose Firearms Prohibition Orders, which back our Police to take guns off gangs.

National is making significant progress on restoring law and order. Violent crime is down, and Kiwis can feel safer in their homes and communities.

Labour and the Greens’ weak approach puts that all at risk.

P.S. read about the Sentencing Reforms that we passed this week here: [link removed]
