My path to elected office started with chairing a Revitalization Committee for the city of Helper. My goal was to involve businesses, leaders, and citizens who had a stake in creating a sustainable community, starting with a project to beautify Main Street. After building key relationships in the community, the next natural step was to run for office to continue the work, which is ongoing even today! I am serving a second term, and the work is challenging but exceptionally rewarding. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to engage locally to bring forth positive changes, and every bit helps - if it’s volunteering in your schools, serving on a board, or running for office you have every opportunity to make a difference.
