Hello – I was probably just 10-years-old the first time I filled out an application for food stamps.
My mom brought us to the United States because she dreamed of giving us a life better than the one she had. But she was also a single mother. We struggled financially, and mom didn’t always know enough English to navigate the complex bureaucratic forms. So as a 10-year-old, it fell to me.
My family wasn’t looking for a handout from the government. From a very young age, I learned the value of hard work. I looked like a baby in my uniform behind the counter at McDonald’s. The people at the plasma center where I sold the plasma in my blood every week knew me by name.

We were doing everything we could to try to get ahead. But that didn’t stop us from losing our home to foreclosure during the Great Recession. And it didn’t tell us where our next meal was going to come from when times got truly tough.
I’m now running for Congress – in one of the closest districts in the country – because our current “representatives” in Washington have no clue what it’s actually like for working class people. Congress has enough millionaires and trust fund babies who were born with silver spoons in their mouths. It’s time families like mine had someone fighting for us.
This was one of the closest districts in the entire country in 2024. Republicans flipped this seat red and held onto their House majority by fewer than 2,500 votes. But with your help now, I’m ready to win this seat back for Democrats and be a champion for working class Americans.
The Republicans spent $15 million to win this seat in 2024, but I’m not taking money from corporate PACs. If we’re going to flip this seat blue and take back the House for Democrats, we need to raise another $15,000 before midnight tonight – and I’m counting on grassroots donors like you to give now:

I am living proof that the American Dream is still possible. Your donation to my campaign today will help me fight for every other 10-year-old. To let them know that it is possible for them, too.
Thank you,
Manny Rutinel
