Get ready for a smooth ride, Pacific Beach! Thanks to the City’s in-house mill and pave team, busy Mission Bay Drive now has fresh asphalt between Garnet Avenue and Grand Avenue. This two-mile stretch of resurfacing will be completed by this Saturday evening, with striping to follow in the next few weeks.

INCREASING REVENUE

San Diego’s hotel tax goes up on May 1 which will help close the city’s budget deficit and sustain key services. This tax, authorized by 2020’s Measure C and paid by hotel guests, visitors staying in RV parks, and short-term rental properties, will help fund and keep needed street repairs and homelessness programs on track without burdening San Diegans.

PACIFIC BEACH PRIDE

Discover PB’s Annual Casino Night Gala honors the local leaders and establishments that reflect the character of Pacific Beach. Congratulations to the 2024 PB Business Awards recipients on their well-deserved recognition. These local establishments embody the creativity and community spirit that make our neighborhoods thrive.

ECONOMIC BACKBONE

I joined our City’s Small Business Advisory Board to share priorities on how we can support our small business community. With small businesses representing 98% of our economy and 60% of total employment, we must address the real, on-the-ground needs of local entrepreneurs to meet the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.

LET’S GET DIGGING

Ready to roll up your sleeves for your community? Join us at Solana Highlands Neighborhood Park to plant trees with your Carmel Valley neighbors. I directed FY25 Community Projects, Programs, and Services allocations to fund this important work—bringing more shade, fresh air, and vibrant greenery for parkgoers to enjoy for years to come.
