This week the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) announced that UK growth has halved since the last forecasts.
Labour’s litany of broken promises have left our economy suffering.
The National Insurance rise is putting jobs at risk and ** forcing local shops ([link removed])
to reduce their opening hours.
I’ll keep standing up for local people against Labour’s crippling tax rises and the economic damage they are causing.

Big banks don't seem to understand that local people, especially the elderly and vulnerable, need access to cash services. Many small businesses also rely on being able to deposit and withdraw cash.
They need to treat Borders residents better.
I have been campaigning for more banking hubs and cashpoints across the Borders.
If you support my work, please sign-up to join the campaign on my website, and please continue to get in touch with me if you believe your local area needs better access to cash.

Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) have ** updated their original mega-pylon plans, ([link removed])
but I’m sad to say they are just as bad for the Borders as the previous proposals.
The proposed route has increased from 85 kilometers to 92 kilometers.
Some communities would be affected even more under these updated plans, which I'm sorry to say are still unacceptable.
It's very disappointing that no routes underground have been considered, which was what Borders residents wanted to see.
In the consultation period that follows, I will keep making the case for different proposals to be considered.
I unfortunately couldn't make a recent meeting on the future of Jedburgh pool as I had to vote on your behalf in the UK Parliament.
But I have been paying close attention to what's happening and making the views of local people known.
I believe the pool must reopen as soon as possible. It is a vital community asset.
I will continue to push for that to happen and hopefully we will all get more positive news in the near future.

If I can help you with anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,
John Lamont MP
