I’ve been traveling across Minnesota, speaking with neighbors and asking them: what gives you hope?

Folks have been writing their answers down on little notes that I call “Hope-Its.” One thing that stands out to me is how many different answers I’ve gotten. Some people say unions, some people say our state — some people say the next generation.

But what’s clear across all of them is that people are drawing hope from one another.

I’m not surprised that people feel disconnected right now. Especially with an administration that is trying to divide us and make it feel there’s nothing we can do to challenge what they’re doing.

That’s why I’m so passionate about listening to everyone — no matter their views. If everyone can’t be heard, we can’t make a plan to fight back. We win when we build genuine community with our neighbors.

These Hope-Its are a powerful reminder that our politics are about each other. Minnesota is a potluck state, every single person has something to bring to this table.

I’m so proud that our average donation to emails like this is $25. It doesn’t matter if you can give $7 or $50 — it’s the donation itself, not the amount, that makes a difference.

At the end of the month, all of our fundraising numbers are going to be publicly released. It’s our first major test as a campaign. Reporters and pundits are going to be watching closely to see what we report.
