Introduced Bill to Support Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs
I was proud to introduce H.R. 1791, the Increasing Credit Union Lending for Business Growth Act, with Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1) earlier this month. This legislation would expand the lending ability of credit unions from $50,000 to $100,000 and ensure community credit unions have the flexibility they need to provide small business with the capital and financial support required to thrive in today’s competitive market
Congressional Art Competition is Now Open!
Calling all young South Texas artists — the Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in our district. The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the United States Capitol alongside winning pieces from other congressional districts. Participating students should submit their artwork by Friday, April 11, 2025, at 5 p.m. CT.
More information, including rules, regulations, and where to send artwork can be found here.
Working to Lower the Cost of Eggs
On March 7, 2025, I sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins urging the Trump Administration to import eggs from Mexico to address the rising cost of egg prices and provide families in South Texas and throughout the United States economic relief. I also urged the administration to reconsider the proposed 25 percent tariffs on Mexican imports going into effect on April 2, 2025. These tariffs will only increase prices on foods and goods for all Americans.
Rest assured that I am committed to not only lowering the cost of egg prices but of everyday items our communities rely on.
