Not only is our nation being severely tested, but we as individuals are being tested as never before.
But while institutions and corporations are buckling under Donald Trump's campaign of intimidation, we, the people, are finding our footing—just as our country slides quicker than I ever thought possible into authoritarianism.
Last weekend, HUGE numbers of us came out to rally with Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and other progressive leaders and loudly and boldly proclaim that what is happening is illegal and morally wrong. 34,000 in Denver. 23,000 in Tucson. These numbers are unprecedented in years without national elections.
But it's just the start. The fight against authoritarianism will require all of us. We can't relent. And we must be organized.

Yes, the Democratic Party must become a true opposition party. But, let's be clear: Political parties do not lead.
The antiwar movement and the Civil Rights Movement didn't depend on the Democratic Party for their successes. They depended on a mass mobilization of all of us who accepted the responsibilities of being American.
I want to reassure you: We are the leaders we need.
Each of us must spread the truth about the disaster Trump and Musk and others are wreaking.
We also must provide community for one another. It’s critical in these perilous times to know that each of us is not alone—to feel the strength and conviction from being part of a community that cares deeply about social justice, democracy, and the rule of law.
And we must grow our movement day by day, week by week, and month by month, until there are so many of us engaged and fighting Trump and Musk's reign of cruelty and injustice that they have no choice but to fold in the face of democratic power.
