Dear John,
During our January trip to Syria, the Atlas Network team and I met with local leaders who are working to freedom in the post-Assad era.
As this month's horrible violence confirms, it’s not an easy path.
Assad loyalists and independent terrorists—with the support of the Iranian and Russian governments—are fighting for a return to dictatorship and to extinguish any chance that the new government adopt freedom-focused reforms.
But rather than just watch in horror, our partners—with the help of Atlas Network—are working to stop the cycle of violence and to institute the long-term solution by substituting win-win free-market exchange for violence.
It begins with coordination with Atlas Network partners already in the region.
First, our friends at the Arab Center for Research are teaching and explaining clearly in Arabic—through accessible videos, classrooms, and every form of media available—the benefits of free markets, property rights, and limited, constitutional government to the wider Arabic-speaking population.
Next, our friends at the Lebanese Institute for Market Studies (LIMS) have identified urgent reform needs. They're commissioning, editing, presenting, and promoting well-researched and feasible policy proposals.
Plus, the centerpiece of our effort is a brand-new Atlas Network partner organization based in Damascus—a center for liberty, voluntary wealth creation through markets, and limited government in the heart of a former brutal tyranny.
Today, I’m excited to share that, thanks to our community, this new organization has been established!
Please join me in welcoming the Free Syria Center to Atlas Network!
The Free Syria Center will be the think tank in Damascus advocating for personal freedom despite threats of violence, terrorism, and civil war.
I’m excited to share this with you because this is a major victory for freedom, and it wouldn’t have been possible without everything you and our community are doing to support our mission worldwide.
Our network has long supported our friends with grant funding, coaching, training, networking, and sharing winning strategies, and now we’re making our network even stronger by establishing our first partner organization in Syria.
In short, Adam and I saw on the ground how hard it would be and what efforts would be needed to bring lasting freedom to Syria, and despite the challenges, we’re still taking significant steps forward in the direction of long-lasting peace and prosperity.
But we can’t keep up the momentum without your help.
We have a plan. It’s in motion. And now, we need to see it through to the finish line.
Will you stand with me now and support our model for expanding free enterprise worldwide, including in Syria?
Show that you stand with Atlas Network and our brave partners by making an urgent gift of $250, $100, $50, $25, or even $12.80 (celebrating the date the Assad regime fell).
