Dear John,

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, I want to share a quote I love from Alice Walker: “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”

In a time when systems and institutions are working tirelessly to convince us that we are powerless, it's vital to draw strength from our ancestral wisdom and remember that throughout history, women have built, sustained, and wielded their power to shape a world that centers justice and equity for all. The rights we hold today exist because of women-led movements, and the rights we are still fighting for can only come to fruition through that same power.

But our power doesn’t just lie within each of us individually – it grows exponentially when we come together, organize, and fight as one collective force.

Though this month is coming to an end, the work and celebration of what we can accomplish together continues. Women’s power has always been and will remain integral to driving this country forward and creating a democracy that works for all people. We’re proud to stand by your side in this journey.

In solidarity,

We’re just over a month away from our 2025 Women of Vision Awards, and we can’t wait for you to meet our incredible honorees – feminist leaders, activists, and everyday superheroes who are driving change across politics, media, and healthcare.

We hope you’ll join us on Tuesday, April 29 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan, New York.

Grantee Partner Spotlight: Sur Legal Collaborative

In 2020, in the early days of the COVID pandemic, many immigrants were deemed essential workers despite knowing little about their labor rights. Sur Legal Collaborative was founded to fight on their behalf, with a mission to democratize legal knowledge for immigrant and working-class communities.

Empowering folks with the resources they need to advocate for themselves, Sur Legal exemplifies what we know to be true: our strength comes from working together. Learn more about their incredible work in our latest grantee spotlight.

Watch Now: Women’s History Month IG Live

Couldn’t make it to our Instagram Live last week? You can still watch a recording of it on our Instagram page!

Ms. Foundation Chief of Programs Ellen Liu and Movement Doula & Curator Cristina Aguilar joined Communications Manager Elaine Hunt for a conversation on lessons learned during their work in movement spaces, how philanthropy can best meet this moment, and what we can do to take care of ourselves and our communities right now.

This Women’s History Month, act for equity and justice

At Ms. Foundation for Women we know that increased investment in our grantee partners across the country is needed now to organize against regressive and harmful policies and decisions. The leadership of women, girls, and gender-expansive people of color needs to be resourced so that change continues in communities around the country.

In this moment every action we take matters. Your gift helps us overcome the challenges of now and those that lie ahead. Together, we’ll keep fighting for our right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom. We’ll continue to fight against oppression and for gender equity, while working to create a democracy that works for everyone.
