Marine Vet VP Vance Addresses Marines at Quantico: “No More Quotas, No More Ridiculous Mumbo Jumbo”
Promises to support “the most lethal fighting force the world has ever seen.” Washington Times: Vice President J.D. Vance on Wednesday crowed to corpsmen at the Marine Corps base in Quantico that the administration was making good on the promise to eliminate diversity equity and inclusion initiatives in the military. Mr. Vance, a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Iraq War, said the White House cares more about “excellence” and about “patriotism…”President Trump in January signed an executive order banning DEI initiatives in the military. He also did away with the use of race- or sex-based preferences in the armed forces, the Defense Department and the Homeland Security Department ( Washington Times). Charlie Kirk: Vice President JD Vance to young Marines at Quantico: “We don’t care who you are, where you came from. We don’t care what skin color you are. We care about excellence, and we care about patriotism. And if you are awesome and you are a patriotic young Marine, then we are going to do everything that we can to make you the most lethal fighting force the world has ever seen” ( X).

Los Angeles Has Only Provided Four Permits to Rebuild Houses Destroyed by Fire
National Review: Back in January 13, Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass “issued a sweeping Executive Order to clear the way for Los Angeles residents to rapidly rebuild the homes they lost in the ongoing firestorm and lays the foundation for businesses to plan their rebuild. She also updated the local emergency declaration to account for the firestorm’s devastation and to accelerate the city’s recovery and rebuilding.” Terms like “rapidly” and “accelerate” sound impressive, but you will probably not be shocked to learn that the city government’s concept of “rapidly” is only fast when compared to glaciers. As of Monday, March 24, 75 days after the fire, the city had issued . . . four permits for homeowners to rebuild their properties. Not forty. Not fourteen. Four ( National Review). ABC7: Residents in the Palisades Fire zone are trying to figure out how to move forward, but there are several obstacles in the way — including the city’s permitting process and L.A.’s looming budget deficit ( ABC7).

President Trump Looks to Freeze Funding to Family Planning Organizations
Wall Street Journal: The Trump administration is moving to freeze tens of millions of dollars in federal family-planning grants to certain organizations while it investigates whether the money was used for diversity efforts, people familiar with the matter said. The Health and Human Services Department is weighing an immediate freeze of $27.5 million in grants, an agency spokesman said after. The groups that would be subject to the freeze include Planned Parenthood affiliates, the people familiar with the matter said. Altogether, the groups were set to get a total of about $120 million this year. The freeze, which could be made public as soon as this week, would suspend funding meant to support, in the U.S., pregnancy testing, provision of contraception, treatment of sexually transmitted infections and evaluation and counseling for infertility ( Wall Street Journal). This is not the only case working to remove taxpayer money to fund abortion providers: ADF is defending the ability of pro-life states like South Carolina to direct Medicaid funds away from abortion giants like Planned Parenthood ( Alliance Defending Freedom).

NPR, PBS CEO’s Testify on Before DOGE Subcommittee
Fox News: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., scolded NPR CEO Katherine Maher over her past statements during Wednesday’s fiery DOGE subcommittee hearing on alleged biased content on public media. After opening statements, Greene blasted Maher, who testified along with PBS CEO Paula Kerger and two other witnesses, for her previous job of overseeing Wikipedia, saying it’s a “platform that doesn’t tell the truth.” Greene then read personal statements that Maher previously made on social media so the “public can understand” her views. Greene noted Maher has called President Donald Trump a “deranged, racist sociopath,” has said America is “addicted to White supremacy” — which Greene called “appalling” — and found the terms “boy and girl” to be “erasing language” for non-binary people ( Fox News). Rep. Brandon Gill: Rep. Brandon Gill makes NPR CEO Katherine Maher look like a fool by asking her about her own racist social posts. Maher tries to rewrite her own far-left history on-the-fly. Unfortunately for her, Gill brought the receipts ( X). Kanekoa the Great: REP FALLON: “Billions of taxpayer dollars have gone into both of your coffers over the last few decades, and I understand why Democrats are going to viciously and vehemently defend you all because you’ve become a propaganda wing of the Democratic Party” ( X).

NPR CEO Acknowledges Mistake in Not Covering Hunter Biden Laptop, COVID Origin Stories
New York Post: NPR on Wednesday finally admitted that it made a mistake in failing to promptly cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal — as the left-leaning broadcaster fights to keep its federal funding. The mea culpa by NPR’s chief executive Katherine Maher came during intense questioning from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and other Republican legislators during a congressional subcommittee hearing regarding the broadcaster’s perceived bias in its coverage ( New York Post). Chris Houck: NPR CEO Katherine Maher insists “NPR acknowledges that we were mistaken in failing to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story more aggressively and sooner” and that, on COVID origins, “we acknowledged that the new CIA evidence is worthy of coverage and have covered it” ( X). Desiree: NPR’s CEO just admitted it, on camera. They failed to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story. They downplayed COVID’s origins. They got it wrong when it mattered most. And now they want grace… with your tax dollars? Defund NPR ( X).

Governor Kathy Hochul Rushes Hundreds of Thousands of New Yorkers to Switch Medicaid Home Healthcare Provider
FingerLakes: Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan joined fellow Republican lawmakers in Albany on Tuesday, calling for a delay in the implementation of changes to the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP). The proposed changes, set to take effect April 1, would require 280,000 elderly and disabled New Yorkers to register with a single fiscal intermediary, Public Partnerships LLC (PPL), within a three-month window. With more than 100,000 consumers still unregistered, lawmakers argue that the transition period is too short and could lead to disruptions in essential home care services. Gallahan and his colleagues support legislation that would extend the deadline to July 1, giving consumers and providers more time to adjust ( FingerLakes). Libs of TikTok: Kathy Hochul overhauled a Medicaid funded home healthcare program. It forces nearly 300k New Yorkers to switch over to one pre-selected provider which Gov. Kathy Hochul chose because they’re her donor friends. The problem is they’re impossible to reach, are based out of state, and had major issues in multiple other states. New Yorkers have 6 more days to figure it out or they will lose their Medicaid care. Many disabled New Yorkers, and Democrat and Republican State Senators and Reps have urged Kathy Hochul to reconsider but she’s refusing to budge ( X).

Department of Housing and Urban Development Puts End to Illegal Immigrants Receiving Federal Housing Loans
National Review: The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced on Wednesday that non-permanent residents will no longer be eligible for Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgages, National Review has learned, part of a broader effort by the administration to ensure that American citizens are prioritized under taxpayer-funded housing programs following massive flow of illegal immigration under former President Joe Biden. FHA loans offer government-insured mortgages to ensure that lower-income individuals have access to home ownership. While illegal immigrants are technically ineligible to obtain FHA-backed home loans under U.S. law, HUD’s announcement will strengthen enforcement mechanisms to ensure that illegal immigrants are not abusing the program in the future. It is unclear how many illegal immigrants have obtained FHA-backed loans ( National Review). Department of Housing and Urban Development: Our message to those who choose to enter America illegally — there will be no access to public housing, no FHA home loans, and no HUD funded shelter. Americans are HUD’s first and only priority ( X).

Los Angeles Teachers Union Defies President Trump’s DEI Policy
Los Angeles Times: United Teachers Los Angeles President Cecily Myart-Cruz said her members are fully cognizant of Trump’s hostility to union priorities but are determined to stick with theirs… In a direct challenge to Trump’s opposition to diversity, equity and inclusion practices, known as DEI, UTLA is calling for support of “new educators, with targeted investment in the recruitment and retention of BIPOC, multilingual and immigrant educators and service providers.” BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous and people of color. The Trump administration, meanwhile, canceled some $600 million in teacher training grants nationwide, alleging that these programs are promoting inappropriate and “divisive ideologies” linked to DEI. A judge has issued an order temporarily blocking this action ( Los Angeles Times). Daily Wire: The L.A. teachers union is defying President Trump by championing DEI policies while demanding pay increases of more than 26 times higher than the current annual pay raise for some teachers… Last week, the White House issued a fact sheet regarding an executive order targeting DEI policies. The fact sheet stated, “The Order also directs that programs or activities receiving any remaining Department of Education funds will not advance DEI or gender ideology. … Mathematics and reading scores are down in public schools, despite per-pupil spending having increased by more than 245% since the 1970s, indicating that more spending does not mean better education” ( Daily Wire).

Supreme Court Upholds Biden’s “Ghost Gun” Regulations
NBC: The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a Biden administration effort to regulate “ghost gun” kits that allow people to easily obtain parts needed to assemble firearms from online sellers. The decision by a court that often backs gun rights resolves the legal dispute over whether the kits can be regulated the same way as other firearms. The ruling was 7-2, with Justice Neil Gorsuch writing the majority opinion finding that the kits can be regulated under the federal Gun Control Act, saying the court had “no trouble rejecting” the arguments made by challengers. The regulation, issued by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), includes ghost guns within the definition of “firearm” as described in the long-standing federal law that regulates guns ( NBC). Washinton Post: The Supreme Court will also decide this term on a civil suit by the Mexican government, which is seeking to hold American gunmakers liable for decades of gun violence in that country ( Washington Post).

Even ‘The View’ is Ashamed of Jasmine Crockett
Townhall: When you’re a Democrat and you have lost the ladies on “The View,” you know you messed up. The show’s co-hosts slammed Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) for mocking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s disability during a speech before the Human Rights Council earlier this week. While addressing the crowd, the lawmaker referred to Abbott as “hot wheels” because he is confined to a wheelchair ( Townhall). Reporter Jeff Charles: Dang, even The View hosts are slamming Jasmine Crockett for her comment about Greg Abbot! Broken clocks, and all that ( X).
